About This Lesson

Modern Dance pioneer Jose Limon’s classic piece “There is a Time” is based on the historic poem from the Bible, "Ecclesiastes" - "To Everything there is a season…” Based on the cycle of universal human experiences, this poem is rich in ideas & words. Lessons focus on language arts, encouraging students to explore the meanings of poetic phrases. Lessons show how to guide choral speaking, basic gestural expressions of the meaning of the phrases in the poem. Students will also be encouraged to view the dance & discuss the choices made by the choreographer. Themes: Human Family & Enduring Values.
