LaMonica Smith Bryson is a veteran educator at Gretchen Whitney High School
in Cerritos, CA, known for her commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity in education. With over 26
years of experience as an English Language Arts teacher, she actively engages in initiatives to uplift
silenced voices through literature, discussion, and research. LaMonica has been a participant in the
ABCUSD’s Black Student Leadership Advocacy Academy and
has completed immersive training programs through California Conference for Equality and Justice,
eCornell, and Facing History, where she developed expertise in fostering inclusive environments. She has
served on various committees, including the Early College and Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion
Committees, and held leadership roles such as Interim President of the Black Parent Association. A
proponent of educational advocacy, Bryson's philosophy centers on cultivating a truly inclusive learning
culture that goes beyond compliance, ensuring all students feel seen, heard, and valued.
